I can’t believe it! Our Fourth (& Final) Weekly Adventure Plan is here. But before we (I) get too sad, we still have a long weekend full of magic ahead.
*There’s no such thing as being behind at Camp AweGust. So, if you’ve lost track of your big plans and good intentions, or if you’ve been wanting to participate but haven’t had time or space, just choose one small thing from any week to do this weekend. I promise– a small dose of play goes a long way!
Let’s send this summer off with a sparkly firecracker of a bang, shall we?

A NOTE FROM YOUR CHIEF CAMP COUNSELOR, TAMI:
I am always after that childlike feeling of wonder. The way that absolutely everything seems like a miracle, because everything in the world is new. This week, this newsletter, and pretty much my life, is guided by the Roald Dahl quote that, despite its influence and importance, I never remember correctly.
We’re on the same page about this part:
“Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.”
…and I’m in total agreement that:
“Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."
But my accidental adaptation is, instead:
Those who look for magic will find it.
More of a promise or a directive than an admonishment. Which works well for a personal motto, which is what that has become. It’s also the theme of this week.
So, keep those bright eyes open, Campers. Get into some mischief, poke at the fabric of the universe to test its limits, and remember: magic comes in all shapes and sizes– extraordinary and ordinary, practical and personal, illusion and plain sight. Magic is not always obvious, but I believe it wants to be discovered. So go look for it. And prepare to be dazzled!
*This digital deep sea dive was pretty mind-blowing
A NOTE FROM YOUR FAVORITE CAMP COUNSELOR, BUCKWHEAT:
Hi Campers! ItsmeBuckwheat.
Welcome back to my very special part of camp: Weekly Wonder Walks! In case you’re new (and wonder-ing)…my name is Buckwheat (that’s me in the picture below) and I’m pretty much an expert at walks. One of my favorite parts is all the fun things you can find when you’re walking. For example, sticks. Also, street snacks. And squirrel friends! The Outside is filled with wonders! And, unfortunately, cats.
Each week, I’m going to take you on a walk where we will hunt for treasure (and avoid cats). You can use this time as a simple noticing walk or a photo scavenger hunt. You can keep track of your findings in your head (if you have any extra space up there) or bring a handy notebook.
THIS WEEK’S AWE-SOME ACTIVITIES & CHALLENGES:
(click on each image to enlarge)
Magic Tricks: If you have a Master Class subscription, I thoroughly enjoyed this one with Penn & Teller. I mean, who better to learn from than the masters. Skillshare has a handful of workshops to teach you card tricks. And, if you really want to get serious about magic, this site is no joke.
Dream Catcher: If you’re feeling crafty, these DIY fiber feather dream catchers are fun. If your grown up style is a little more modern, these simple boho dream catchers might be more your vibe.
THIS WEEK’S AWE-MAZING EVENTS:
Watch ‘In & Of Itself’ via Hulu
Well, Campers– we’ve reached the end. But before you run off and pack up your cabins, leave us a little note in the Campfire Comments Circle below👇🏻. In fact, consider it your final challenge: Tell us about your summer in ONE WORD….
Psst….What did you think of Camp AweGust?
Should we do it again next year? Or more often? Should it be simpler? Six weeks long? Or one week? Should it stay self-guided or be more structured? What if some parts were in-person or zoomed? What were your favorite parts? Least favorite? What was missing? What was overkill?
I know that’s a lot of questions, so I made a little poll, so you can answer with the single click of a button. (If you have more thoughts, Buckwheat and I would love to hear them! Just hit reply to this email.)
